The 2026 International Underwater Glider Conference (IUGC 2026) will be held at the Indian Ocean Marine Research Centre (IOMRC) which is located on the University of Western Australia campus.

The International Underwater Glider Conference (IUGC 2026) will be delivered as a paperless event, with all programs, abstracts, and materials available digitally to reduce environmental impact. Getting to the venue (IOMRC):
Bus:

The closest Transperth bus stop is Fairway After Clark (stop no. 25566) on Fairway and is about 190 metres (~3-min walk) from the conference venue. Type 'Fairway after Clark' in the 'Your location' field of the Transperth Journey Planner to access a detailed timetable.

The purple CAT bus is a free bus service, which operates between the UWA Business School and Elizabeth Quay bus station in the Perth CBD. More information on public transport to and from UWA can be found here. The closest bus stop on the purple CAT bus route is Hackett Dr UWA Guild Cat Id 122 (Stop No: 28501) and is about 650 metres (~9-min walk) from the conference venue. ​Car:
Paid parking bays are available along Fairway and in the yellow zone carparks on the UWA campus ($3/hour). You will need to download the EasyPark app or use the paid parking machines in both these areas. Please see here for more information about parking at UWA. The closest yellow zone car parks are in carparks 65 (~95 m away/~1-min walk) and 43 (~160 m away/~2-min walk) (CP65 and CP43 on this map. Entry to car park 65 is via Broadway, and entry to car park 43 is via Fairway entry 4.

Taxi or Ride Share:

Taxis and ride-share services such as Uber and DiDi are widely available in Perth and offer a convenient, door-to-door option for travelling to and from the conference venue, particularly for those unfamiliar with the city. Services operate throughout the day and evening, with pick-up and drop-off points easily accessible across Perth metropolitan area and the surrounding areas.

Entry:
Enter the Indian Ocean Marine Research Centre building via the sliding glass doors off Fairway. A registration desk will be set up in the reception area; the auditorium is adjacent to the reception area.
Accessibility:
One accessible parking bay is located behind the conference venue between door panels 2 and 3 (entry via Fairway entry 4). If the accessible bay is occupied, ACROD or UWA accessible permit holders can also park in the red or yellow zone parking areas for free. Always display your valid ACROD or UWA accessible permit when parking on campus.

The Indian Ocean Marine Research Centre is fully accessible, with stair-free access (via elevator) throughout the venue which also includes accessible toilet facilities available for attendees with mobility requirements.
Welcome Reception:
The IUGC 2026 Welcome Reception will be held on Monday 16th November at the Indian Ocean Marine Research Centre, providing an inviting setting to officially open IUGC 2026. Attendees will be welcomed with warm Australian hospitality and the opportunity to enjoy a selection of traditional Australian cuisine and locally inspired flavours. The reception offers a relaxed environment to meet fellow participants, reconnect with colleagues, and begin the week’s discussions in a collegial and engaging atmosphere.
WiFi:
Conference participants will be able to access complimentary WiFi throughout the venue via the 'Uniroam' network. Attendees from participating institutions can log in using their home institution credentials, while alternative guest access options will be available for those without Uniroam access. This ensures reliable connectivity for accessing the digital conference program, presentations, and online materials during IUGC 2026.
Breaks:
Breaks are an important part of the program, and we ensure there is ample time to network, connect with collegues, and refresh between sessions. These intervals are designed to encourage meaningful conversations and informal discussions that complement the formal program.

We kindly ask delegates to return to the conference room promptly at the conclusion of each break to ensure the program runs on schedule and to avoid unnecessary delays.
Conference Dinner:
The IUGC 2026 Conference Dinner will be held on Thursday 19th November at Matilda Bay Restaurant in Crawley, offering delegates a memorable evening in one of Perth’s most iconic riverside locations. With sweeping views and a relaxed atmosphere, it provides the perfect opportunity to unwind after a busy week of sessions, reconnect with colleagues, and continue conversations in a more informal setting.
Presenters:
Presentations at IUGC 2026 will consist of 15 minute oral talks followed by 5 minutes for questions and discussion. Presenters are asked to prepare their material to fit strictly within this timeframe to ensure the program runs smoothly. Abstracts must be submitted via the Abstract Submission section of the conference website, where full guidelines and key dates are provided. We appreciate all presenters adhering to the allocated time to support a professional and engaging program for all participants.
Dietary:
IUGC 2026 is committed to catering for a range of dietary requirements to ensure all participants are comfortably accommodated throughout the conference. Menu selections will include options for common dietary needs, including vegetarian, vegan, halal, kosher, gluten-free, and other medically or culturally required preferences. Delegates are asked to select their dietary requirements at the time of purchasing their tickets to ensure appropriate arrangements can be made with the venue and catering teams. Excursion:
The IUGC 2026 Conference Excursion will be held at the Aquarium of Western Australia (AQWA), offering participants a unique opportunity to experience the region’s remarkable marine biodiversity. Participants will enjoy an engaging and memorable afternoon surrounded by Western Australia’s iconic underwater environments, providing an inspiring backdrop for continued networking and discussion. Buses will transport participants from the Indian Ocean Marine Research Centre (IOMRC) to AQWA, ensuring convenient and seamless travel to and from the venue.
Getting to Perth:
Perth is well connected to major international gateways and is easily accessible for participants travelling from the United States, Canada, South America, Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

Arrival in Perth:

Perth Airport operates across multiple terminals, with Terminal 1 (T1) and Terminal 3 (T3) serving as key gateways for domestic and international travellers.
Terminal 1 - is the primary international terminal, handling all international arrivals and departures, as well as some domestic services. It offers a range of passenger facilities including duty-free shopping, dining outlets, lounges, car hire counters, and transport connections.
Terminal 3 - primarily handles domestic flights, particularly Qantas services, and provides check-in facilities, retail and food outlets, lounges, and ground transport access.
The terminals are located within the Perth Airport precinct, approximately 20 minutes from the Perth CBD, with transfer options available between terminal precincts where required.
